Since Link's formation in 2012 we have made significant progress towards achieving our mission, growing to over 1,250 members and being awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Link has engaged with insurers, reinsurers and brokers, hosting senior executive dinners, regular meetings, and formal and informal events to help companies on their journey towards making insurance a more attractive sector for all talent, not just LGBT talent.
Link supported the establishment of several new LGBT employee resource groups in the insurance sector.
Link's Steering Committee and other members played a leading role in creating “Out in the Market”, the LGBT day at DiveIn, the London insurance market's first Diversity & Inclusion Festival, organised by Inclusion@Lloyd's.
Link supported Inclusion@Lloyd's first Dive In Festival in 2015, with Link volunteers helping to arrange four LGBT focused events that attracted over 400 participants.
We have raised the profile of LGBT talent through media coverage in Insurance Day, Post Magazine, The IIL Journal, Insurance People, You Talk Insurance, and the Insurance Insider.
We work closely with Stonewall and other experts to encourage firms to become Diversity Champions, to participate in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index, and to embrace best practice.
In 2012, 3 firms were Stonewall Diversity Champions, in 2015 there are 10.
More firms than ever participate in the Workplace Equality Index (although only one features in the top 100... there is work still to do!).
There is now a dedicated insurance industry section in Stonewall’s “Starting Out Guide” that is sent to careers advisors in schools and universities across the country.
A representative from Stonewall sits on Link’s steering committee.
Link worked to have Diversity Role Models host a session as part of Inclusion@Lloyd's 2015 Dive In Festival.
